After the Tampa Bay Mutiny and Miami Fusion were contracted, Major League Soccer distributed their players to the rest of the league by means of an Allocation Draft, in which teams with an excess allocation were allowed to select from their players. The 2005 MLS SuperDraft, held in Baltimore, Maryland on January 14, 2005, was the sixth incarnation of the annual Major League Soccer SuperDraft. Expansion club Real Salt Lake drafted Under-17 midfielder Nikolas Besagno with the first overall pick. A collective bargaining agreement with the MLS Players' Union dictated that the draft be reduced from six to four rounds, although a Supplemental Draft was held to equip newly-formed reserve teams and compensate for expansion. | Backyard Soccer MLS Edition |
Backyard Soccer Major League Soccer Edition was the first Backyard Sports soccer edition game to include the MLS. It debuted in the year 2001 and grew child popularity to the league. Since the game was made in 2001 it included the soccer clubs of Tampa Bay Mutiny and Miami Fusion, it also was made when soccer club F.C. Dallas was called the Dallas Burn. This game didn't include the new brand new MLS soccer clubs of C.D. Chivas USA or Real Salt Lake. (references) |

MLS Cup is the final game of the Major League Soccer post-season, officially recognized as the championship of the league. The trophy is called the Alan I. | MLS SuperDraft |
The MLS SuperDraft is an annual event in which the Major League Soccer teams select players who have graduated from college or otherwise been signed by the league. The SuperDraft was first instituted in 2000, as a combination of the MLS College Draft, in which players having graduated college were selected, and the MLS Supplemental Draft, in which all other players were chosen. The draft is divided into six rounds of ten picks, the order of which is determined by a combination of the teams' playoff and regular season positions. (references) |
