Anthim the Iberian Anthim the Iberian (Romanian: Antim Ivireanul) was a notable figure in the ecclesiastical history of Rumania. A Georgian by birth (the appellation "Iberian" has its origins in the ancient Kingdom of Iberia in eastern Georgia, not from the Iberian peninsula), he came to Rumania in the second half of the 17th century, as a simple monk. (references)
Iberian horse The Iberian horse is native to the Iberian peninsula. One of the oldest of horse breeds, its domestication dates back as far as 3000 BC when Greek invaders feared the Iberian cavalry. Today, two breeds have derived from a common ancestor: the Lusitano, from Portugal, is the Royal breed in Portugal; and the Alter Real, or "royal stud". This breed is typically 15-16 hands (150-160 cm) at the withers. It is almost invariably bay in colour. In conformation, it resembles the Andalusian horse. (references)
Iberian language The Iberian language describes a linguistic group identified with the Iberian civilization (7th century BC - 1st century BC), formed in the eastern and south-eastern regions of the Iberian peninsula. The substratum of the Sardinian language has also been identified as Iberian or close to Iberian. These indigenous languages became extinct by the 1st to 2nd centuries AD, after being gradually replaced by Latin. (references)
Iberian Lynx The Spanish Lynx (Lynx pardinus, sometimes Felis pardina) or Iberian Lynx is sometimes classified as a subspecies of the Eurasian Lynx, but most authorities regard it as a separate species. While the Eurasian Lynx bears rather pallid markings, the Spanish Lynx has distinctive, leopard-like spots. It is furthermore smaller than its northern relative and hence hardly able to hunt animals larger than hares, and rabbits are its main prey. However, when hungry, the Spanish Lynx may attack young deer or mouflons. (references)
Iberian naming customs In Spanish-speaking countries, the name of the father is put before the name of the mother; these are then known as the apellido paterno ("paternal surname") and the apellido materno or segundo apellido (maternal or second surname). (references)

Iberian scripts The Iberian scripts (or Iberian alphabet) are two scripts (or two styles of the same script) found on the Iberian peninsula, the Northeast and South Iberian script. Both styles contain monophonematic as well as syllabic signs. The Celtiberian version of the script was used to record the Celtiberian language, for example on the Botorrita tablet. (references)
