Common Expressions: IN-BAND

Expressions Definition
In-band adjacent-channel Although rarely called by its name, IBAC is the method of placing digital TV stations on channels in the existing analog TV bands. While this can also be applied to all radio bands, no country has yet done so except for TV. (references)
In-band on-channel In-band on-channel (IBOC) is a method of transmitting digital radio and analog radio broadcast signals simultaneously on the same frequency. By utilizing subcarriers and sidebands, digital information is "piggybacked" on a normal AM or FM analog signal, thus avoiding any complicated extra frequency allocation issues. However, by putting extra RF energy toward the edge of the station's channel, interference with adjacent channel stations is increased. (references)
In-band signaling In-band signaling is the sending of control information in the same frequency band used for data. (references)
