IAR 14 The IAR 14 is a Romanian low wing monoplane fighter-trainer aircraft designed before World War II. The airplane was designed by IAR design bureau in 1933 and it is an evolution from the IAR 12 prototype. The fuselage is of rectangular shape built from wood (the rear part) and duralumin (the front part). The aircraft was equiped with the Lorraine-Dietrich 12 powerplant, produced under license by IAR, that also equipped the IAR 12. The first flight took place in June 1933. In September 1933 an order for 20 planes was placed. The production ended before World War II in 1939. (references)
IAR 316 The IAR 316 the Romanian version, built under licence, of Aerospatiale SA 319B Alouette III light utility helicopter. IAR 316 is used for both military and civil purposes. The production started in 1970 at the IAR plant near Braşov. More than 230 units were built, some of them were exported to countries like Iran, Pakistan, Angola and Guinea. The helicopter is still operational with the Romanian Air and Air Defense Forces and as a utility helicopter. A light attack helicopter (IAR 317) was also developed based on IAR 316 but only 14 units have been built. (references)
IAR 330 The IAR 330 is the Romanian built version of Aerospatiale SA 330 Puma. More than 163 helicopters have been built for domestic use, out of which 104 were destined for military usage. 57 helicopters have been produced for export. Also a SAR (search and rescue) version, fitted with inflatable floaters for emergency landing on the sea, had been built in a small batch. Production is still ongoing at IAR Ghimbav plant near Brasov. 24 helicopters have been recently upgraded to IAR 330L Socat. (references)
IAR 79 Savoia-Marchetti SM.79B bomber built under licence in Romania using the Romanian built air cooled 870hp IAR K14 engines instead of the Italian 780hp Alfa Romeo 126. A further upgrade was done in 1942 replacing the IAR K14 engines with 1200hp water cooled Junkers 211 engines increasing the maximum speed 350 km/h to 405 km/h. The new version is known as 'IAR 79B'. IAR 825 Romanian tandem multirole trainer based on the IAR 823 built for the Romanian Air Force. The aircraft is roughly in the same class with the Brazilian EMBRAER Tucano. IAR 825 is equipped with the Canadian Pratt_%26_Whitney_Canada_PT6 turboprop engine. Firs flight took place on the 12th of June 1982. More than 60 planes have been delivered. (references)
IAR 99 IAR 99 (Soim) is a modern advanced jet trainer and light attack aircraft capable of performing close air support and reconnaissance missions. IAR 99 is intended to replace the L-29 Delfin as trainer from the Romanian Air Force inventory. The aircraft is of semi-monocoque design, with tapered wings and a swept back tail unit. A large blade-type antenna installed beneath the nose on the port side of the fuselage gives the IAR 99 trainer a distinctive appearance. (references)
