| Half-cell (reference electrode) | Transportation | Is a device, which usually has copper, immersed in a copper sulphate solution. The open circuit potential is constant under similar conditions of measurement. It is used to measure the voltage potential at the junction of the metallic surface and the electrolyte (pipe surface to soil or seawater) with respect to that of the junction of the copper and the copper sulphate in the half-cell.
