Expressions Definition
Ferulic acid Ferulic acid (4-hydroxy-3-methoxycinnamic acid) protects our cells from ultraviolet rays. It neutralizes reactive oxygen species in the body, thus protecting it from damage of the DNA and accelerated cell aging, thus inhibits the onset of cancer, especially of the stomach, colon, breast, prostate, liver, lung and tongue as various researches have shown. It is a phytochemical acid and reacting with UV light actually increases its antioxidant ability. Being an antioxidant it also reduces the level of cholesterol and triglyceride in the body and thus lowering the risk of heart diseases. (references)
