It is a rule designed to require the recording of all broadcast programming for a period of 60-90 days. If adopted, radio and television broadcasters would have to maintain an archive of all their broadcasts and retain them for a period of time. (references)
FCC Song An earlier song, "I Bet You They Won't Play This Song On The Radio", written and performed by Eric Idle on Monty Python's Contractual Obligation Album, touched on this subject, but with two major differences: It limited its scorn to radio programmers and it bleeped the various obscenities. FCC registration program Business The Federal Communications Commission program and associated directives intended to assure that all connected terminal equipment and protective circuitry will not harm the public switched telephone network or certain private line services. Note 1: The FCC registration program requires the registering of terminal equipment and protective circuitry in accordance with Subpart C of part 68, Title 47 of the Code of Federal Regulations. This includes the assignment of identification numbers to the equipment and the testing of the equipment. Note 2: The FCC registration program contains no requirement that accepted terminal equipment be compatible with, or function with, the network. (references)
FCC Registration Number Telecommunications The FCC Registration Number (FRN) is a 10-digit number that is assigned to an entity registering with the FCC. Every entity doing business with the FCC that wishes to obtain a license or certificate, register an antenna structure, or submit FCC Remittance Advice Form 159 must obtain an FRN. The entity that you register will have a unique FRN that is used to identify its business dealings with the FCC. The FCC will use the FRN to ensure proper credit of all fees paid to the Commission, identify contact information for distribution of FCC mailings, and other purposes. You must register through the FCC's Commission Registration System (CORES) website to be issued an FRN. However, existing licensees who registered with ULS or ASR prior to December 3, 2001, may have been automatically assigned an FRN (s). To determine the FRN associated with an existing license, use ULS License Search and search by Call Sign or Licensee ID. The FRN will appear on the search results page. To determine the FRN associated with existing antenna structure registrations, use ASR Registration Search, and search by Registration Number or Licensee ID. The FRN will be displayed on the Owner Tab within your registration record. You may also register with CORES by using paper Form 160. (references)
