| Face-discharge bit | Mining | A bit designed for drilling in soft formations and for use on a double-tube core barrel, the inner tube of which fits snugly into a recess cut into the inside wall of the bit directly above the inside reaming stones. The bit is provided with a number of holes drilled longitudinally through the wall of the bit, through which the circulation liquid flows and is ejected at the cutting face of the bit.
