Antiquities Elogium. An inscription on tombs, doors, images of ancestors, votive tablets, etc. Many of these elogia (elegeia) are preserved to us from the pedestals of the statues with which Augustus adorned the colonnades of the temple of Mars in the Forum (Hor. Carm. iv. 8Hor. Carm., 13) and from the hermae in libraries. They are of some historical value, though not always representing original sources of information. For specimens, see the Corp. Inscript. Lat. i. p. 277, 281, and Wilmanns p. 622 foll.; also the Poetae Lat. Minores (ed. Bährens), v. 396. Plot

When the crew of Voyager investigate a cluster of space-borne life forms, Kes prematurely enters a stage in her life known as the 'Elogium', which is the only time in her life when she can conceive a child. This causes Neelix a quandary as he decides whether or not he is ready to be a father. Just as he decides that he is, it is revealed that the Elogium was artificially brought on by the radiation emitted by the lifeform cluster. This means that it is possible Kes will go through another Elogium later on in her life when she is ready.

At the end of the episode, Ensign Wildman informs Captain Janeway that she is pregnant by her husband who is still in the alpha quadrant.
