E1 Series Shinkansen The E1 Series Shinkansen, introduced in 1994, were the first double-deck trains built for Japan's Shinkansen dedicated high-speed rail lines. They are generally, along with their fellow double-deck class the E4 Series Shinkansen known by the marketing name "MAX" (Multi-Amenity eXpress). (references)
EMD E1 The EMD E1 was an early passenger-train diesel locomotive developing 1,800 hp, with an A1A-A1A wheel arrangement, and manufactured by General Motors' Electro-Motive Division of La Grange, Illinois. They were built during 1937 and 1938 for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway for a new generation of diesel-powered streamlined trains. 8 cab-equipped lead A units and three cabless booster B units were built. The initial three locomotives were AB pairs built to haul the Santa Fe's Super Chief diesel streamliners, while the others were built as single A units to haul shorter trains. The locomotives were diesel-electrics with two 900 hp Winton 201-A engines each, with each engine driving its own generator to power the traction motors. The E1 was the second model in a long line of passenger diesels of similar design known as EMD E-units. (references)
Honda E1 E1 is the second in a series of successive bipedal humanoid models created by Honda. Created in 1987 the robot walks on two feet, in a manner resembling human locomotion, taking around 5 seconds to complete a step. E1 was an early prototype to the next two following models, E2 and E3. E1 could walk at a paltry speed of 0.25km/hour. The E series of Honda robotic prototypes preceded the current humanoid ASIMO, created in 2000. (references)
London E1 E1 is the London East Head Postal District. (references)
Motorola ROKR E1 The Motorola ROKR E1 is the first mobile phone to be integrated with Apple Computer's iTunes music player. It was launched on September 7, 2005 during a special media-only event by Apple in San Francisco, California. The phone had been widely expected, with technology sites reporting on collaborations between Motorola and Apple as far back as December 2004. (references)

Adenovirus E1 Proteins Health The very first viral gene products synthesized after cells are infected with adenovirus. The E1 region of the genome has been divided into two major transcriptional units, E1A and E1B, each expressing proteins of the same name (adenovirus E1A proteins and adenovirus E1B proteins). (references)
Col E1 Geology A plasmid which naturally occurs in some strains of the bacteria Escherichia coli. It codes for an E. coli-produced antibiotic called a colicin and immunity to its self-produced colicin (so that it doesn't unintentionally destroy itself). It is one of a number of such plasmids, each of which code for a different type of colicin. The plasmid is useful for making cloning vectors for making recombinant DNA molecules. (references)
