Dipteryx is a genus of nine species of shrubs and trees in the subfamily Faboideae of the pea family Fabaceae, native to South and Central America and the Caribbean.

The Tonka bean (D. odorata) is grown for its fragrant seeds, and several species are used for timber.

Baru (D. alata) is a fruit from Cerrado vegetation of Brazil, and a vulnerable species. It is a canopy emergent tree found in tropical rainforests.
