Albert Clark Albert Clark (1944 - ) was one of the primary drivers behind the modern computer revolution. At the time he was a munitions specialist as an active duty United States Air Force officer. His first contribution was in the 1968 writing of a pre-ARPANET requirement for two computers to communicate as one where the U.S. Air Force computers would pass shipment documents directly to U.S. Army computers. This eliminated telephone calls to read keypunch card outputs from Air Force computers at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, to people at Tooele Army Depot, Utah, so they could be re-keypunched and dropped into Army computers. The University of Utah that assisted in this effort became one of the four universities originally making up ARPANET a few months later. (references)
Alson S. Clark Alson S. Clark (1876 - 1949) was an American painter best remembered for his impressionist landscapes. His art education included training at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Art Students League of New York, and in the atelier of William Merritt Chase. Using glass blanks made by Mantois of Paris his firm, Alvan Clark & Sons, ground lenses for refracting telescopes, including the largest refracting telescope in the world, the 40-inch at Yerkes Observatory, and the second largest, the 36-inch telescope at Lick Observatory.
