| Anal bleaching | Anal bleaching is the practice of bleaching the darker pigmentation of the skin around the anus for cosmetic purposes. There has been much debate about whether anal bleaching is a real phenomenon or an urban myth, with the names of a number of famous actresses being linked with the practice in rumors. According to Tristan Taormino in an article in the Village Voice, the phenomenon is real, with a preparation including hydroquinone as an active ingredient being used. In and around Los Angeles, beauty salons advertise the service, usually around 75 dollars a session. (references) | ||

| Coral bleaching | Coral bleaching results when the symbiotic zooxanthellae (single-celled algae) are released from the original host coral organism due to stress. The corals that form the structure of the great reef ecosystems of tropical seas depend on these symbiotic photosynthesizing unicellular algae called "zooxanthellae" that live within their tissues. When the zooxantheallae are expelled, the coral loses its pigment, leading to a bleached or completely white appearance. Toxins are produced when water temperatures rise. (references) | ||
| Flour bleaching agent | Flour bleaching agent is a food additive added to flour in order to make it appear whiter (freshly milled flour is yellowish) and to oxidize the surfaces of the flour grains and help with developing of gluten. (references) | ||
| Tooth bleaching | Tooth bleaching, also known as tooth whitening, is a common procedure in general dentistry but most especially in the field of cosmetic dentistry. Many people consider white teeth to be an attractive feature of a smile. A child's deciduous teeth (milk teeth) are generally whiter than the adult teeth that follow. As a person ages the adult teeth often increase in value, that is to say they become darker. This darkening is due to changes in the mineral structure of the tooth, as the enamel becomes less porous. Teeth can also become stained by bacterial pigments, foodstuffs and tobacco. (references) | ||
