| Bibb City, Georgia | Bibb City is a former town located in Muscogee County, Georgia. As of the 2000 census, it had a total population of 510. Formerly an incorporated city surrounding -- and managed by -- the Bibb Manufacturing Co. mill, the city dissolved its charter on December 7 of 2000, two years after the mill closed and there was no longer funding to continue city operations. Incorporated in superior court in August of 1909, Bibb City is now part of the city of Columbus, Georgia. (references) | ||

| Bibb Graves | David Bibb Graves (April 1, 1873-March 14 1942) was an American Democratic politician who was the Governor of Alabama from 1927 to 1931, and again from 1935 to 1939. Born in Hope Hull, Montgomery County, Alabama, he was the first of four men to be elected to non-consecutive terms as Governor. Despite his membership in the Ku Klux Klan, he developed a reputation as a liberal reformer and passed the Minimum Program for Education in 1939 among other accomplishments. In 1937, when President Franklin Roosevelt appointed Hugo Black to the U.S. Supreme Court, Governor Graves appointed his own wife, Dixie Bibb Graves, to the vacancy to serve the remainder of the term, becoming Alabama's first woman Senator.
