Australasian Bottled Water Institute The Australasian Bottled Water Institute Inc. or (ABWI) is a regional member of the International Council of Bottled Water Associations or(ICBWA). The regions covered are Australia, New Zealand and Oceana. The ABWI is the certifying organization for water bottlers in Australasia as well as the peak industry council. The Institute represents it's members to industry regulators, bureaucrats and media affiliations as well as regulates and provides information on all types of bottled water. The members (bottled water companies) also rely on the aid of the ABWI to assist in fulfillment of government requirements/standards in order to reach and sustain a high standard of quality in product. Australasian Federal Council The Australiasian Federal Council was a fore-runner to the current Commonwealth of Australia, though its structure and members were different. It consisted of the then British Colonies of Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, Fiji, and others. New South Wales never joined the Council. It was a limited legislative body that met eight times in the last two decades of the nineteenth century to discuss matters of national importance. It had no power to enforce its decisions beyond that provided by the member colonies. (references)
Australasian Meat Industry Employees Union The Australasian Meat Industry Employees Union, better known as the Meatworkers Union, is an Australian trade union, registered with the AIRC and affiliated to the ACTU. The AMIEU was formed in 1906 as the Federated Butchers Union, and changed its name to the AMIEU in 1912.
