Avener

An avener, or avenor, was an officer of the stables under the Master of the Horse, whose duties included swearing in all the officers belong to the stables, making up the accounts of the stables, and issuing debentures for paying the officers and servant. The avener also provided oats for the stables.

The term is also used for a certain position under nobility, such as the avenor of the king, of the prince, etc.
