Arizona State Route 85 Arizona State Highway 85, or AZ-85, is a north-south state highway in south-central Arizona. Its northern terminus is on Interstate 10 near Buckeye, Arizona ; its southern terminus is the Mexican border near Lukeville, Arizona where it feeds into Mexican Federal Highway 8 near Sonoita, Sonora at a border crossing. It passes through Gila Bend, where it meets Interstate 8, Ajo, and Why at its intersection with Arizona State Highway 86. Between Gila Bend and Ajo it passes through the Barry Goldwater Air Force Range, named in honor of the long-time Republican Senator from Arizona, Air Force General, and 1964 Republican candidate for President of the United States. On the border, the southernmost miles of AZ-85 traverse Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. (references)

British Rail Class 85 The British Rail Class 85 is an electric locomotive built during the early 1960s, as part of BR's policy to develop a standard electric locomotive. Five protype classes (81-85) were built and evaluated, which eventually led to the development of the Class 86 locomotive. Forty of these locomotives were built from 1961-64 by BR at Doncaster Works. The class were used to haul trains on the then newly electrified West Coast Main Line, from Birmingham, to Crewe, Manchester Piccadilly, Liverpool and later Preston. By 1965, electrification had spread south to London Euston. (references)
California State Route 85 Highway 85, officially California State Route 85 and West Valley Freeway, provides an alternative to U.S. Highway 101 between Mountain View, California and southern San Jose, California. The highway bypasses downtown San Jose, instead passing through Cupertino, Saratoga, Campbell, Los Gatos, and the Almaden Valley. The highway intersects with Interstate 280, California State Route 17, and California State Route 87 (Guadalupe Parkway).
