Specialty Definition: Showcase

(From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia)

Showcase is a Canadian cable television channel. Its slogan is "Television without borders" and its mandate is to provide edgy, independent content to Canadian viewers.

Its content includes rebroadcasts of popular British television shows such as Prime Suspect or Cracker; repeats of Canadian shows such as This Hour Has 22 Minutes and Made In Canada; initial Canadian showings of American series such as Six Feet Under and Queer as Folk; and showings of independent and foreign films. At night the channel also shows a number of films and shows that could be considered soft porn, such as Red Shoe Diaries.

Showcase is owned by Alliance Atlantis.

It also airs some original programming such as the popular mock reality/documentary comedy Trailer Park Boys.
