Mining

A. Reynolds' critical velocity is that at which fluid flow changes from laminar to turbulent, and where friction ceases to be proportional to the first power of the velocity and becomes proportional to a higher power b. Kennedy's critical velocity is that of fluid flow in open channels that will neither deposit nor pick up silt c. Belanger's critical velocity is that condition of fluid flow in open channels for which the velocity head equals one-half the mean dept. (references)
