Huxley is a city located in Story County, Iowa. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 2,316.

Geography


Huxley is located at 41°53'46" North, 93°36'10" West (41.895983, -93.602782)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.9 km² (1.1 mi²). 2.9 km² (1.1 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 2,316 people, 917 households, and 631 families residing in the city. The population density is 791.3/km² (2,042.9/mi²). There are 964 housing units at an average density of 329.4/km² (850.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 97.41% White, 0.22% African American, 0.30% Native American, 0.56% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.65% from other races, and 0.86% from two or more races. 1.30% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 917 households out of which 36.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.1% are married couples living together, 9.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.1% are non-families. 23.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.50 and the average family size is 3.00. In the city the population is spread out with 27.2% under the age of 18, 12.1% from 18 to 24, 30.4% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 8.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 93.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.0 males. The median income for a household in the city is $48,068, and the median income for a family is $56,202. Males have a median income of $37,736 versus $29,013 for females. The per capita income for the city is $20,172. 6.8% of the population and 3.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 5.3% are under the age of 18 and 3.9% are 65 or older.

Huxley is a city located in Shelby County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 298.

Geography


Huxley is located at 31°45'42" North, 93°53'15" West (31.761773, -93.887578)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.3 km² (2.0 mi²). 5.2 km² (2.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.96% water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 298 people, 135 households, and 103 families residing in the city. The population density is 57.5/km² (148.8/mi²). There are 230 housing units at an average density of 44.4/km² (114.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 98.32% White, 1.34% African American, 0.34% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.67% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 135 households out of which 17.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.4% are married couples living together, 3.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.0% are non-families. 20.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.21 and the average family size is 2.50. In the city the population is spread out with 13.1% under the age of 18, 3.7% from 18 to 24, 18.1% from 25 to 44, 33.2% from 45 to 64, and 31.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 56 years. For every 100 females there are 106.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.7 males. The median income for a household in the city is $32,143, and the median income for a family is $40,000. Males have a median income of $41,875 versus $20,625 for females. The per capita income for the city is $19,504. 9.6% of the population and 7.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 24.4% are under the age of 18 and 4.6% are 65 or older.
