ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Specialty Definition: ENERGY EFFICIENCY

DomainDefinition

Energy

Using lessenergy/electricity to perform the same function. Programs designed to useelectricity more efficiently doing the same with less. For thepurpose of this paper, energy efficiency is distinguished from DSMprograms in that the latter are utility-sponsored and -financed, whilethe former is a broader term not limited to any particular sponsor orfunding source. "Energy conservation" is a term which has also beenused but it has the connotation of doing without in order to save energyrather than using less energy to do the some thing and so is not used asmuch today. Many people use these terms interchangeably. (references)
