Crockett is a town located in Contra Costa County, California. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 3,194.

Geography


Crockett is located at 38°3'10" North, 122°13'24" West (38.052820, -122.223400)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 13.0 km² (5.0 mi²). 13.0 km² (5.0 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics


As of the census2 of 2000, there are 3,194 people, 1,491 households, and 848 families residing in the town. The population density is 245.2/km² (634.7/mi²). There are 1,590 housing units at an average density of 122.0/km² (315.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 85.10% White, 3.13% Black or African American, 0.94% Native American, 2.60% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 4.26% from other races, and 3.98% from two or more races. 11.62% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,491 households out of which 21.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 40.1% are married couples living together, 11.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 43.1% are non-families. 34.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.14 and the average family size is 2.75. In the town the population is spread out with 18.5% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 30.6% from 25 to 44, 30.1% from 45 to 64, and 15.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 96.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.7 males. The median income for a household in the town is $48,574, and the median income for a family is $66,174. Males have a median income of $46,311 versus $31,204 for females. The per capita income for the town is $27,469. 7.4% of the population and 4.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 12.1% are under the age of 18 and 9.2% are 65 or older.

Crockett is a city located in Houston County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 7,141. It is the county seat of Houston County6.

Geography


Crockett is located at 31°19'1" North, 95°27'30" West (31.317010, -95.458397)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 23.0 km² (8.9 mi²). 22.9 km² (8.9 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 7,141 people, 2,672 households, and 1,747 families residing in the city. The population density is 311.2/km² (805.6/mi²). There are 3,081 housing units at an average density of 134.3/km² (347.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 48.54% White, 44.67% African American, 0.36% Native American, 0.46% Asian, 0.14% Pacific Islander, 4.78% from other races, and 1.05% from two or more races. 10.50% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 2,672 households out of which 31.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 38.5% are married couples living together, 23.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 34.6% are non-families. 31.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.46 and the average family size is 3.08. In the city the population is spread out with 29.8% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 23.1% from 25 to 44, 19.2% from 45 to 64, and 18.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 85.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 75.5 males. The median income for a household in the city is $21,455, and the median income for a family is $27,069. Males have a median income of $26,098 versus $18,674 for females. The per capita income for the city is $11,708. 33.9% of the population and 26.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 44.6% are under the age of 18 and 26.0% are 65 or older.
