Weekdays when legislators do not meet in formal legislative sessions, they are required to "check in" with the Chief Clerk or Secretary of the Senate. Mondays, Thursdays (and Fridays during busy periods) are formal Floor Session days. Check-in days are typically Tuesdays and Wednesdays. (references)
