Rick Danko or Richard Clare Danko (December 29 1942 - December 10 1999) was the electric and acoustic bass guitar player in the American rock group the Band.

Born Richard Clare Danko, Danko joined rockabilly singer Ronnie Hawkins' group, the Hawks at age 17. Later, with The Band, Danko sang, wrote, played violin and acoustic guitar. In the 1990s, Danko worked and recorded with folk musicians from Norway.
