Amidon is a city located in Slope County, North Dakota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 26. It is the county seat of Slope County6.

Geography


Amidon is located at 46°28'59" North, 103°19'20" West (46.483042, -103.322251)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.6 km² (0.6 mi²). 1.6 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 26 people, 14 households, and 9 families residing in the city. The population density is 15.9/km² (41.2/mi²). There are 17 housing units at an average density of 10.4/km² (26.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 100.00% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 14 households out of which 14.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.1% are married couples living together, 7.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.7% are non-families. 35.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 28.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 1.86 and the average family size is 2.33. In the city the population is spread out with 15.4% under the age of 18, 0.0% from 18 to 24, 19.2% from 25 to 44, 38.5% from 45 to 64, and 26.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 50 years. For every 100 females there are 85.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 83.3 males. The median income for a household in the city is $27,188, and the median income for a family is $31,250. Males have a median income of $36,250 versus $16,250 for females. The per capita income for the city is $18,765. 0.0% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line.
