An arena is a circular or oval shaped public space (akin to a classical amphitheatre), designed to showcase theater, musical performances, or sporting events. It is comprised of a large open space surrounded on all sides by raised, usually tiered, seats or benches for spectators. The key feature of an arena is that the event space is the lowest point, allowing for maximum visibility. Usually, an arena is designed to accommidate a very large number of spectators, such as New York City's Madison Square Garden or Pasadena's Rose Bowl.

The term "arena" is also used loosesly to refer to any event or type of event which either literally or metaphorically takes place in such a location--- often with the specific intent of comparing an idea to a sportng event, such as "the arena of war" or "the arena of love."

Arena (browser)

Arena is a web browser developed by the W3C for testing support for Html 3 and Cascading Style Sheets.

The W3C halted work on the Arena browser, and switched to the Amaya browser as their new testbed. Yggdrasil Computing then took over the role of developing the browser. Development seems to have stopped in late 1998, with the final release being on the 25th of November.

Despite its time of development, Arena is in certain areas a relatively modern browser; because it functioned as a testbed, it saw the implementation of new technologies long before they became mainstream.

Arena is a town located in Iowa County, Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,444.

Geography


According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 205.9 km² (79.5 mi²). 202.1 km² (78.0 mi²) of it is land and 3.8 km² (1.5 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.84% water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 1,444 people, 545 households, and 419 families residing in the town. The population density is 7.1/km² (18.5/mi²). There are 617 housing units at an average density of 3.1 persons/km² (7.9 persons/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 99.10% White, 0.07% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.48% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.07% from other races, and 0.28% from two or more races. 0.69% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 545 households out of which 31.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.9% are married couples living together, 5.3% have a woman whose husband does not live with her, and 23.1% are non-families. 17.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.65 and the average family size is 3.00. In the town the population is spread out with 24.4% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 30.6% from 25 to 44, 29.3% from 45 to 64, and 9.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 104.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 104.3 males. The median income for a household in the town is $51,042, and the median income for a family is $54,844. Males have a median income of $35,341 versus $26,691 for females. The per capita income for the town is $20,060. 6.7% of the population and 4.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 8.6% are under the age of 18 and 6.6% are 65 or older.

Arena is a village located in Iowa County, Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 685.

Geography


According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.8 km² (1.1 mi²). None of the area is covered with water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 685 people, 256 households, and 182 families residing in the village. The population density is 242.6/km² (628.5/mi²). There are 269 housing units at an average density of 95.3 persons/km² (246.8 persons/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 98.54% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 1.31% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.15% from two or more races. 0.73% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 256 households out of which 37.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.9% are married couples living together, 10.2% have a woman whose husband does not live with her, and 28.9% are non-families. 24.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.68 and the average family size is 3.14. In the village the population is spread out with 30.2% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 35.2% from 25 to 44, 18.2% from 45 to 64, and 9.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 106.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 103.4 males. The median income for a household in the village is $45,870, and the median income for a family is $49,375. Males have a median income of $31,953 versus $24,688 for females. The per capita income for the village is $20,765. 3.7% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 0.0% are under the age of 18 and 11.1% are 65 or older.
